West Newport is worth looking at just for its Architecture apart from anything else. This is the older part of the town with many of the properties built in the early 1800's after the Tay Rail Bridge was built when many Dundee merchants built here and commuted to work by train.
It was also from West Newport that the Ferries steamed their way to Dundee and back until the Road Bridge was built in 1967. You can still see the ornate Ferry Terminal Buildings down at the pier.
